2005-05-03 Gine...for awhile

I won't be updating for a while...as in probably a few weeks. I have some rather serious things I need to deal with (nothing life-threatening but serious just the same ) that will prevent me from being here, most likely.

Check back occasionally. I wil be back full time at some point.

2005-05-03 Sippy cup success

Julia has mastered the art of sippy cup holding.

It should be fairly evident looking at the picture which one works.

Silly me thought the one with handles would be easiest to maneuver. Apparently, I was wrong.

Today was also the first day that she didn't start the day off with a bottle. At her 9 month checkup, Dr. B said it was time to start "bottle elimination" so that by the time she is a year, formula and bottles will be a thing of the past. This morning I made her some cereal and gave her a sippy cup of apple juice. She didn't mind at all. I am so lucky to have such an easy baby. Emily and Katherine were fine with the whole transition too. I still have a very clear memory of both of them having their last bottle ever, right before bed. Yes, I got all wishy washy. It's a big milestone you know.

I will probably have to give Julia 1% milk when it's time for that. You are supposed to start toddlers on whole milk but all three of my children were/are lactose intolerant as babies. They all had/have soy formula and Emily and Katherine couldn't handle the whole milk. So, by porcess of elimination, we will go from whole to 2% to 1% with Julia, all the while knowing that 1% would have been the way to go from the get go. Who knows, maybe Jules will be different. Even with all three of them on soy, she is the one who "spits up" the least. Anyway, in three short months we will know.
